Habit:  shrub/tree

Description:  "Shrub or small tree to 7 m tall; young branches coarsely ferruginous-pubescent. Leaves elliptic to ovate-elliptic, 2.3-8.6 cm long, 1.3-3.8 cm wide, acute at the apex, rounded and very asymmetric at the base, margin clearly sharply serrate, ± glabrous to scattered minutely pubescent above especially when young, densely whitish pubescent with brownish veins beneath; petiole 2-8 mm long, densely pubescent, sometimes coarsely ferruginously so; stipules subulate to ovate, up to 7 mm long. Inflorescence a (1-) 3 (-5)-flowered cyme, 1-3 in a leaf axil, the axes densely stellate-pubescent; bracts ovate to ovate-lanceolate, up to 6 mm long, entire, bifid or trifid; peduncles 6-15 mm long; pedicels 4-11 mm long. Flowers yellow; sepals 6-11 mm long, grey-green outside, yellow to orange-red inside; petals oblong to obovate-oblong, 4-7 mm long, 1.5-2 mm wide, acute or slightly bifid at the apex, yellow to orange. Androgynophore ± absent or up to 1.5 mm long, glabrous, densely hairy at the apex; stamens 5-6 mm long; ovary 1-1.5 mm long, densely hairy; style 5-6 mm long.
